An Emotional Storm

AN EMOTIONAL STORM

Matthew 14v21-32

The number of men who ate was about 5000, not counting women and children…………….Excited

Jesus made them get into the boat and go ahead while he sent the people away …………..……………………………………………………………………………………………………Wondering what’s happening

By this time the boat was far out in the lake………………………………………Thinking everything is ok

The disciples were straining at the oars………………………………………………………………………….Struggling

The boat was being tested by the waves, the wind was blowing against them

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..…..Afraid things might not end well

It was between three and six o’clock in the morning………….Awake in the middle of the night

When Jesus came walking on the water, they screamed with fear, “It’s a ghost” …….Terrified

Jesus spoke to them at once – “Courage!”, he said, “It’s me! Don’t be afraid!” ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….Realising everything is ok

Peter spoke up. “Lord, if it is really you, tell me to come out on the water to you.”

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..………Feeling full of faith

So Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water to Jesus

………………………………………………………………………..……………………….Taking a new step in trusting Jesus

He noticed the strong wind, he was afraid and started to sink down in the water …..Panicking

“Save me, Lord!” he cried………………………………………………………………………….Calling to Jesus for help

At once Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him………………………………………Gripped by Jesus

“How little faith you have! Why did you doubt?” …..………………………………Realising my weakness

They both got into the boat, and the wind died down…Enjoying the peace that Jesus brings

They worshipped Jesus – “Truly you are God’s Son.”……………… Getting to know Jesus better
