Jesus Turning Points

1. REALISATION – Jesus is interested in me personally.

John 1v35,36

When the two disciples heard him (John the Baptist) say this, they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned and saw them following and asked, “What are you looking for?”

2. RECEPTIVITY – I can receive what I need from Jesus.

Mark 5v30

At once Jesus realised that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

… Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet, and trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

3. RECOGNITION – Unlikely people can be ready to trust Jesus.

4. RESPONSE – How am I expressing my response of love to Jesus?

Luke 7v44

5. REPENTANCE – Changing my way of thinking to His way of thinking.

Matthew 16v23

6. REACTION – getting my heart response in tune with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 9v54,55

“Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to destroy them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them and he said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of, for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”

7. REVELATION – appreciating what I have discovered and experienced of Jesus.

Luke 10v23

The Jesus turned to his disciples and said privately, “Happy are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see, but did not see it and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

8. RELATIONSHIP – not fitting Jesus into my life, but fitting my life into Jesus.

Luke 14v25

Large crowds were travelling with Jesus, and he turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to me and hates not his father and mother and wife and children, his brothers and sisters – yes even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

9. REMEMBERING – recalling the things that I have heard from Jesus.

Luke 22v61  The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. The Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him.

10. REFOCUSSING – the cross is Jesus’ victory.

Luke 23v27,28 A large number of people followed him including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me…”
