Getting on the Road

People of the WAY

GETTING ON THE ROAD

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3v6)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as JESUS PEOPLE

  • To all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1v12)
  • Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17v3)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as BIBLE PEOPLE

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for

  • teaching the truth,
  • rebuking error,
  • correcting faults, and
  • giving instruction for right living,

so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed. (2 Timothy 2v16,17)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as HOLY SPIRIT PEOPLE

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts,
but the same Spirit gives them.

There are different ways of serving,
but the same Lord is served.

There are different abilities to perform service,
but the same God gives ability to all for their particular service.

The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all. (Acts 12v4-7)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as KINGDOM OF GOD PEOPLE

  • “Pray…Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6v10)
  • The Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking (religious observances) but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14v17)
  • Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these … anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark10v14,15)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as LIVING GOD PEOPLE

God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.”

Let us be bold then, and say:

“The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” (Hebrews 13v5,6)

Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way, just as we are – yet without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4v14-16)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT LIVING PEOPLE

  • Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5v16)
  • When they saw the courage of Peter and John, and realised that they were unschooled ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (Acts 4v13)

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as NON-ESTABLISHMENT PEOPLE

  • Jesus prayed, “…I say these things in the world so that they might have my joy in their hearts in all its fullness. I gave them your message, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to keep them safe from the Evil One.” (John 17v13-15)
  • Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for a city that is to come. (Hebrews 13v12,13).

GETTING ON THE ROAD
as AT PEACE PEOPLE

  • Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. He has brought us by faith into this experience of God’s grace, in which we now live. (Romans 5v1,2)
  • Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace which is far beyond human understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4v6,7)
