What can we expect? Learning from Simeon & Anna

Luke 2v25-38

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3v6

1. See! Take notice

2. There was a man in Jerusalem – God has people in every place – God needs people in every place – we are placed by God for His purposes

Has God got you where he wants you?

3. His name is Simeon – hearing

4. just – righteous – trusting  – two open hands

5. devout – taking hold of well – got a grip – one hand grip

6. waiting for – he towards received  – hand reached out

7. the consolation of Israel – the encouragement – the called alongside to help – Holy Spirit

of God’s people.

We are where God wants us to be

We are who God wants us to be

We are being what God wants us to be

We are doing what God wants us to be doing

We are looking forward for what God wants us to be looking forward for.

We are acknowledging Him in all our ways – What can we expect?

He will direct our paths:

1. The Holy Spirit was upon him – we can expect that – sometimes felt, sometimes not

2. The Holy Spirit did business with him –

it was revealed – transacted business with him

gave him an official reply to a query when he had consulted an authority.

we can expect that – we have experienced that.

3. You are going to see the Lord’s anointed – to see the anointing of God revealed and released.

what God has said – we can expect

may be a long time coming – long wait?

Letting us know we are not past it – more for you to experience

we can expect Holy Spirit revelation to us to be fulfilled.

What has God said to you?

4. He came in the Holy Spirit into the temple area

we can expect to have our paths directed – to be in the right place at the right time

5. Then Jesus  – filling his arms

we can expect to receive Jesus and to take our part in His purposes.

6. And there was Anna

We can expect that God will put us in touch with others who have the same heart as us

prophetess – we can expect to use the gifts that God has given us.

1. She acknowledged God in her bereavement

She acknowledged God with her life’s commitment – did not leave the temple area

she acknowledged God in what was open to her to do -fastings and prayers

she acknowledged God in her daily habits – night and day – she was bound to be there

2. standing nearby suddenly

we can expect to be in place

we can expect to be given something to say to the fellowship of God’s people

Lord Jesus,

I want to acknowledge you in all my ways.

I acknowledge you in the place you have put me now.

I acknowledge you in who I am.

I acknowledge you in my relationship with you.

I acknowledge you in what I am doing today.

I acknowledge you in what I am looking for.

Lord Jesus I want you to direct my paths.

I expect the Holy Spirit to be upon me.

I expect the Holy Spirit to do business with me.

I expect what the Holy Spirit has told me to be fulfilled.

I expect the Holy Spirit to guide me to be in the right place at the right time.

I expect to receive you and to take my part in your purposes.

I acknowledge you in my bereavements and losses.

I acknowledge you in the gifts you have given me.

I acknowledge you in my life’s commitment.

I acknowledge you in what is open to me to do.

I acknowledge you in my daily routine.

I expect daily to be in place for you.

I expect daily to serve you

I expect that the extraordinary will happen in the midst of my ordinary life.
